In the history of AX we have been to some cracking venues, next up on our AX venue preview is Sheffield, home of the newly named FlyDSA Arena.

 Here are 10 facts we bet you never knew about the FlyDSA Arena and AX!

1. In 2016 we welcomed back USA's Collin Jurin who was injured out of the 2016 series at this very venue. Together with Californian Dylan Schmoke, he joined the MotoHead-backed WD-40 X-Bladez team.

2. At Sheffield Bobby Bruce (Supermini) was able to win against the dominant Ben Clayton

3. Pro Lite and Buildbase Honda’s Chris Bayliss was unable to compete at Sheffield last weekend due to a stomach bug

4. 2016 round winner was Cedric Soubeyras from RFX St Blazey who rode a near perfect Main Event

5. The Sheffield Arena was opened in 1991

6. The Arena has averaged 122 shows a year with over 650,000 customers passing through our doors each year.

7. The building is home to the Steelers ice hockey team hosting 25-30 ice hockey games a season.

8. Oasis played their first ever Arena gig at the FlyDSA Arena in April 1995

9. In 1997 & 1998 the venue was voted the UK / European Arena of the year Live! Awards

10. Tina Turner played her final ever Arena show here in May 2009.
